Yesterday I had the opportunity to enjoy part of the morning on our back patio, watching the hummingbirds coming to the feeder while spinning on my Lendrum wheel. I wish I could tell you about the wool top that I'm spinning, but it was a gift to me from around 13 years ago and I don't remember much about the details of it. It has some great colors blended in it-turquoise and fuchsia to name two-which makes it fun to spin:
Speaking of hexies, I saw a lovely example of quilting creativity on Lin's blog, Saint Victor Quilts. She used hand dyed fabric to play with subtle color gradations, making a lovely hexie quilt top that she embellished with hand embroidery. I love it-it's so inspiring. This is a great example of why I love blogging, as I get to read about the creativity of others and be inspired myself along the way.
On the weaving side of things, I've started weaving some plain weave 8/2 unmercerized cotton yarn in cool colors for kitchen towels. For these towels it's all about the color, so I put a variety of colors into the warp that range from various greens, blues, and grays, along with white. The first weft was a cotton yarn in turquoise:
The second towel was woven with a cotton yarn in the color called bleu moyen:
