An Unique Knitting Bag
For years I kept my knitting supplies in a slightly worn bag from the thrift store.
I kept my supply of knitting needles in this fancy bag.
Last week I decided it was past time to sew a nice knitting bag for myself.
I had a wool rug that I had woven years ago as an experiment-
I dyed the wool and wove the rug using plain weave.
It was then slightly felted.
I just wasn’t happy with the end result,
and the rug has been on a shelf for years.
Now it’s been reborn as a nifty knitting bag.
When I was digging around my supplies
for a heavy interfacing for the edge of the bag,
I found some orphan turquoise, red and white
quilt blocks leftover from another project.
Those blocks turned into four pockets for the inside and outside of the bag.
I used a fun daisy fabric for the inside lining and the straps.
Once I finished that, I decided to continue making smaller bags
to hold my knitting needles and other supplies.
And the last bag was created from some
leftover handwoven fabric that I used to sew a vest.
A vast improvement over the grungy knitting bag that I used for years!
And no more plastic bags for my supplies…
Happy sewing,
Judy
