Finished Knitting Objects
It’s early spring
and we’re getting ready to fly fish once again.
My husband asked me to knit him
some wrist warmers/fingerless gloves to use on cold mornings.
Years ago I knit him this hat using Merino wool
that I dyed myself in some of his favorite colors.
I plied that with a soft alpaca/Corriedale handspun singles
to create a yarn that would knit up into a very warm hat.
We spend hours outside
and he has a nice collection of warm hand knit hats to choose from.
Just so, right?
There’s got to be a benefit from living in a house stuffed with wool and yarn!
For the inside hem of the hat,
I used two commercial yarns that were burnt orange/bright orange
Merino/alpaca to add some interest and a fun factor.
I held on to the leftover ball of yarn from the hat
and now, years later,
I used it up completely to knit these
Calypso Knits Easy Fingerless Mitts by Maggie Smith.
I added a singles strand of chocolate alpaca
handspun yarn that I had on hand to add warmth.
These brought a big smile to my hubby’s face
and I know that they will help to keep him warm while fishing.
Yay!
Have I mentioned how much I love spinning/knitting?
Cheers,
Judy
