Two Finished Hand Knit Hats Created with Handspun Yarn

I’ve just finished spinning some lovely Polwarth yarn
and I used it to knit another Gnarly Hat designed by Diana Troldahl.
I love this hat pattern for the ease of knitting
and the way that it fits a variety of head sizes.
I add an inch in length to my version
to ensure that my ears are covered due to
my medium length curly hair which takes up space.

For the spinners out there-
do you save little leftover balls of handspun yarn
from the projects that you make?
I do and I have a basket full of small balls in all different colors.
For this hat I used some of the small balls of handspun wool
to knit an unique, fun hat.

I watch The Last Homely House on YouTube with Kate,
who shares her creative hobbies from gardening to quilting to spinning.
She commented in one of her spinning videos that “I make the yarn that I want.”
I love her perspective.
That’s my goal in creating my own yarn,
to make the yarn that makes me happy.
Spinning yarn is a peaceful, rewarding hobby.

Happy spinning,
Judy
